• The Board of Education has authorized the hiring of additional middle school teachers for the 2006-2007 school year. This action will allow students to be able to enroll in band and/or chorus AND exploratories, as well as lower class sizes. This choice was not available to students this year.
• The Board of Education authorized additional bilingual and special education positions which are funded through federal, state, and local resources. • The Board of Education has reinstated previously eliminated Learning Center Director positions for the 2006-2007 school year. Learning Center Directors will also teach 4th grade computer keyboarding, a program that was not offered to students this past school year.
• The Board of Education has authorized an extra-curricular 5th grade beginning band program for the 2006-2007 school year. This program is provided by paying teachers extra-duty stipends and is funded partially by student fees and an extra-curricular state grant.
• The Board of Education approved the reduction of all student and building usage fees by 15% for the 2006-2007 school year.
