I am pleased to announce that the Board of Education has formally approved the McHenry School District 15 Strategic Plan. I believe that this plan, with its goals and action steps, will serve the district and community well as we continue to improve the quality of education for all of our students. I encourage you to take a look at this plan (below), as this document will serve as our blueprint for the future. Strategic Plan
GENERAL GOAL STATEMENTS
1. The District will conduct operations in a safe, efficient, and fiscally
responsible manner.
2. The District will provide rigorous research based curriculum, instructional
best practices, and innovative materials for all students.
3. The District will increase communication with parents and taxpayers, via
community newsletters and technological media.
ACTION STEPS
Goal #1: The District will conduct operations in a safe, efficient, and fiscally responsible manner.
The District will:
* Finance future building additions by deferring bonds
* Conduct an enrollment growth study (Kasarda)
* Conduct a transportation study/risk management
* Provide five year financial projections
* Pursue funding a police resource officer for the middle schools
* Review and update job descriptions for efficiency
* Address capacity issues through building additions and grade
reconfiguration
* Conduct an energy study in all facilities |
Goal #2: The District will provide rigorous research based curriculum, instructional best practices and innovative materials for all students.
The District will:
* As part of overall facilities usage and grade reconfiguration plan, will
study feasibility of expanding year-round education
* Analyze/study technology curriculum K-8 and address staffing additions
* Analyze bilingual program/staffing and make recommendations
* Convene Response to Intervention (RTI)/ K-8 reading/language arts
district wide committee to guide implementation
* Consider offering extended At-Risk kindergarten as part of district-wide
staffing process
* Review needs for updated curricular materials (i.e., textbooks) curriculum
development, and staff development and make recommendations for
adoption
* Expand opportunities for algebra in middle schools
* Convene middle school scheduling task force to solicit input relating to
exploratories and schedule result in staffing additions |
Goal #3: The District will increase communication with parents and taxpayers, via community newsletters and technological media.
The District will:
* Publish and disseminate a community-wide school district annual report
document
* Communicate with parents by providing technology link to student
grades, progress reporting, attendance
* Review and address technology staffing
* Provide staff support to enhance all school building web sites
* Pursue reinstating Senior Exchange Program in order to enhance
school-community partnership |
