Early Childhood Screenings

Our early childhood program is designed for children who are at-risk of future school failure or have a disability in one or more areas. The child must be 3 - 5 years old and not eligible for kindergarten. He/she must live within the McHenry School District 15 boundaries.

Using screening tools called Ages & Stages and the DIAL-3, we assess your child's cognitive, fine & gross motor, speech & language, self-help and social skills. A vision and hearing screening is also conducted if your child is invited to attend the on-site screening

The purpose of the screening is to identify children who may qualify for our preschool programs, determine whether the child has age appropriate skills, and to determine if any further formal evaluations are necessary.

WHEN:
Periodically throughout the year
WHERE:
Edgebrook Elementary School
HOW:
Call, and a questionnaire will be mailed to you.
WHY:
If you have concerns or just want to make sure that your child is developmentally age appropriate.
