Accelerated Reader is a computer program used to test reading comprehension. As soon as students
are able to read at a beginning level, they begin using the program. This usually occurs in first grade. All students in second and third grade are expected to participate in the program.
Students are tested to determine their reading levels. Next, they read books within their reading
levels and take quizzes on the computer to test their understanding of the material. The tests are usually five or ten questions.
Each teacher sets her own requirements and rewards for the program. Please consult your child's teacher
if you have any questions.
Below is the list of Accelerated Reader books at Hilltop School. You can search by title or
reading level. A copy of the entire list is also available at the McHenry Public Library and the McHenry Nunda Public Library.
