My Vacation in Suva, Fiji

Where in the world could it be?

Suva, the capitol of Fiji, is part of a group of islands east of Australia.

<-- See the image to the left.

How big is it?

Fiji, with all of its islands combined, is roughly the size of New Jersey. There are 322 islands, but there are people only on 106 of them.

Are these islands going to flood?

No, because Fiji is mountainous, reaching up to 4,250 feet above the sea.

What temperatures can I expect to see?

Well, Suva has an average of about 77 degrees F (25 degrees Celsius). Temperatures do not get very much above or below that, because Fiji is near the equator. Since it is slightly below the equator, Suva's summer months are colder than its winter. The highest recorded temperature was 93 degrees F.

What about precipitation?

There are about 186 rainy days each year in Suva, which means rain falls almost every other day. This is quite wet, because McHenry receives rain mostly only in months near April.

How are you going to spend your money on the trip?

Here is the link:

The costs include my family too.

Keep in mind it is in US dollars, but for each US dollar, you get about 1 1/2 Fiji dollars.

(US $1.00 = Fiji $1.49)

What kind of entertainment will there be?

For sight-seeing, as you saw in the budget, different cruises are offered each day. The tours and fun activities are shown in this table.

How will the weather affect the clothing you bring?

Shorts and short sleeved shirts are essential, because the temperature is never below 68 degrees Fahrenheit. I should bring at least high sun protection sunscreen because the average high in March (when I'm vacationing) is 86 degrees. Swim trunks are going to be greatly needed when my family and I go swimming at the YMCA, snorkeling, and surfing. Last but not least, sandals will prevent my feet from getting sore and covered with blisters as I walk around Suva.
