When necessary, road conditions are evaluated early each day by the Director of Transportation and a decision to close the schools because of inclement weather will be made generally before 5:30 AM. The only exception to this rule is when school is in session and would be shortened because weather conditions dictate early dismissal for safe transportation to occur.

Please do not call the Transportation Department to find out whether McHenry Schools are closed due to weather. You should listen/watch one of the following radio/TV stations which are notified through the Emergency Closing Center soon as the decision to close is made: STAR Radio 105.5 FM; WGN Radio 720 AM; WBBM Radio 780 AM; WGN Television Channel 9; WBBM Television Channel 2; WMAQ Television Channel 5; WFLD Fox Television; and CLTV NEWS Cable Television.
