Principal's Message

  • Dear Duker Families,
Welcome back! I hope your family had an enjoyable summer. As much as I enjoy the relaxation of summer, I am also energized by the beginning of a new school year!

Each new year brings some positive changes. If you drove past the school or utilized our ball fields this summer, you may have noticed several maintenance and construction projects. We have beautiful new flooring throughout the school, including carpeted entryways that will help reduce slippery floors in our winter months. All lockers have a fresh coat of paint, which definitely brighten up the hallways. And,
lastly, our students will love our brand new playground. All of these items enhance our
    learning environment.
In addition to new building items, we have some wonderful staff additions. The Duker staff is delighted to welcome the following staff members:

    Melissa Stenzel, 4 Gold
    Melany Crenshaw, Art
    Claudia Dorsch, Interpreter/Translator
    Rhonda Leon, pm LMC aide
    Melissa Snyder, Speech
    Collette Arens, .5 EL

Please reach out and say hello when you get a chance! In the coming weeks, you will receive a letter with classroom assignments. A great deal of time and effort has gone into the process of student placement. We carefully consider many factors when creating academically and socially balanced classrooms. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at both grade levels. Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities. We ask that you please keep this in mind.
Thank you to all for your continued support of Duker School! It remains an honor and privilege to work with your family! Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all our students.

    Sincerely,

    Alison Kos
    Duker Principal
