Principal's Message

  • Mr. Michael Glover, Principal

Welcome to McHenry Middle School.  My name is Mike Glover and this will be my tenth year working with the students, faculty, staff, and families of MMS.   I began my educational leadership career in McHenry as the assistant principal for three years and am beginning my seventh year as principal.  I appreciate the opportunity to help lead our school and a strong sense of responsibility to ensure that our students are receiving quality instruction every day.  McHenry Middle School is a great place to learn and grow!  Our building is an excellent environment for learning and a great place for students to participate in activities.  We will challenge them academically, see them grow socially and emotionally, and support them in the many activities we offer.  As principal, I will continue my commitment to supporting our students as they work to become their best everyday.  I am confident that if a student is engaged and involved in all the programs we offer they will be successful and prepared for high school.

Personally, I taught U.S. History at the high school level in Clinton Iowa for nine years.  While teaching, I completed my master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Illinois University in July of 2009 and recently finished my doctorate in education leadership in December of 2017.  Prior to teaching I attended Iowa State University where I met my wife Kristen.  We have two wonderful daughters; Addyson (12) and Mallory (9) who keep us busy and entertained as they begin their own activities.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, golf, and following my favorite sports teams.

Thank you for visiting our website and check back regularly for updates to keep you informed on all the events taking place at MMS.  Be on the lookout for email blasts, The Week Ahead every Friday, as well as tweets from @mmstrojans.  We want to build a strong partnership between school and home, acknowledging that communication is key.  Please feel free to contact me via email, phone, or in person.  I would enjoy the opportunity to discuss your student, our curriculum, or the many opportunities we offer here at MMS. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have a question or concern.  The sooner we know, the sooner we can help!

I am very proud to be a MMS Trojan and I hope everyone involved with our school feels the same. This school year we are welcoming Rachel’s Challenge to bring a focus on kindness at our school and of course “Being Nice” to each other.  Some other items we will be promoting this year are; McHenry Mindset, Literacy Strategies (writing/Read-Aloud), Envision 2.0 math, STAR 360 testing, among many others. In the end we have a great family here at MMS and are very proud of our students!

Here’s to a positive and successful school year!
