Today, District 15 opens up registration for the 2024-2025 school year. You've likely seen the email from District 15 with instructions on how to do so. Because you or your child will be entering 6th grade, you'll have two new options available: Band and Chorus!
While we haven't yet officially begun to reach out and inform the 5th-grade students or parents about our band and chorus programs here at Parkland, we thought we might explain the option that you have available to you beginning today and we want to make sure that you choose music to be a part of your or your child life!
Please know the following about band and chorus registration
- At this time, registration is only available using the google form. It can be found through Skyward while you register for next year's classes or at the link below.
- When you register, your child will not be "locked in" to the class and may choose not to participate up until the end of the first week of classes next year.
- Registering early is recommended, particularly for band, as you or your child will need to attend an appointment to try out instruments and it will be best to do so before the end of the year.
- Registration will be available through the end of this school year.
- Students will have the best experience and the greatest success if they start in 6th grade. "Easing in" to middle school by holding off on band and/or chorus makes for a significantly more challenging experience as a 7th grader.
- We will begin to reach out with additional information about the band and choir programs beginning in April.
