  • 7th ANNUAL COMMUNITY WALK FOR BREAST CANCER

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed....every 14 minutes someone loses the fight.  On October 5th you can help!!  In honor of breast cancer awareness month, McHenry school district parent, Ange Powell, is organizing the 7th Annual Community Walk for Breast Cancer.

This all ages walk will take place on Saturday, October 5th.  It will begin and end at Fort McHenry Park, located at the corner of Rt. 120 and Front Royal Drive (entrance to the Whispering Oaks subdivision).  Registration will start at 9:30 a.m., with the walk to begin at 10:00.  The stroller friendly route is approximately 3 miles and takes place rain or shine.

There is no entry fee to participate, but walkers are encouraged to obtain pledges from family and friends.  The first 20 walkers with $50 or more in pledges will receive an event t-shirt.  All proceeds will benefit the Avon Crusade for Breast Cancer, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit foundation which provides grants for research and treatment programs.

Refreshments will be served after the walk.  For more information or to print out a pledge sheet, call Ange at (815)245-2561.

We walk for our daughters and all little girls...
so someday they will wear pink ribbons only in their hair and not on their shirts
