The 2020/21 school year marks Landmark's 20th year as a school-of-choice in McHenry District 15!  Happy Anniversary, Landmark! Welcome to all of our families, those returning and those brand new! This year, all district 15 schools are starting with Remote Learning due to the pandemic. District administrators and teachers dedicated their summer to developing a robust engaging remote learning experience for our students. Many new digital resources were purchased to ensure that we have the virtual materials the teachers and students need for a successful academic year. While our year is not beginning in typical fashion, we are looking forward to  wonderful school year, a year that will be filled with active learning, community building, fun activities and opportunities to reach out and help our community. As our school sign says, "Landmark can 'virtually' do anything"!

I am honored and excited to be back as my eleventth year as your principal! Landmark is a truly amazing community of learners! In my 29 years in education, I have never worked with a more dedicated exceptional group of teachers nor with a more supportive parent community! All of our parents are invited and encouraged to join the LCO, the Landmark Community Organization, which is our version of a PTO. This active group supports our students and teachers in numerous ways, including planning social activities for families and some just for parents. Our meetings will be virtual this fall -watch for links in our weekly newsletter, The Dolphin Splash.

For those who are new to our school, Landmark is a multi-age classroom school of choice in District 15. Our integrated curriculum is taught in a two-year cycle in our 2nd-5th grades. In the 2020/21 school year,  our Science and Social Studies focus  will be Curriculum 1, as found on our website. Our continuous learning calendar can also be found on our website.

As with other district schools, Landmark offers a full day kindergarten experience with the option for half-day mornings. A year ago, we separated our Kindergarten and First grade students so that our youngest students receive a full day experience dedicated to their specific unique academic and social/emotional needs. Our 2/3 and 4/5 classrooms continue to be multi-grade, providing amazing opportunities four our students to learn and grow on a continuous basis at their own level. Our teachers are experts in using interactive technology that brings learning alive in our classrooms. Our STEM curriculum and materials continue to expand to provide our students numerous opportunities to explore and problem-solve in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math while also enhancing literacy skills.

Please follow our school's Facebook page, LMDolphins, and check the website regularly so that you can join us for the many activities and events here at Landmark!
