Happy Winter!
Our students have been enjoying the snow and wintery weather that has finally arrived! Our playground was filled with snowmen and snow forts last week!
February and March are filled with many school and family events and activities! Our boys and girls are engaged in several service learning projects, including those for an area retirement center and for an area food bank. Our students love the opportunity to give back to our community and to help others! We are looking forward to our upcoming Celebration of Learning where our students become the teachers, sharing what they've learned with their parents and guardians! That same evening is our next Scholastic Book Fair ~ always a great chance to find some great new reads!
Our amazing Landmark Community Organization (LCO), our parent-teacher group, has planned a fun Trivia Night for our parents and staff in early March. This event is sure to be a hit while also raising funds for field trips and assemblies! This incredible group plans family events, adult-only events and service learning events throughout the school year. The LCO also plans activities during our school intersessions to provide opportunities for our students and their families to gather for a variety of activities.
This is the time of year when Landmark begins actively planning for 2023/24 by holding our annual Lottery Information Night and accepting names of students for the upcoming lottery to fill our openings. You can find our presentation and a link to the Google lottery form here. In order to be entered into the lottery for the 23/24 school year, all forms must be submitted by February 24th. The lottery will take place at the district office in early March; all entrants will be notified about the results shortly after the lottery. We are always excited to welcome new families to our amazing school!
If you are new to the community and/or Landmark, one of the first differences you'll note is that we have a continuous year calendar, which begins in July and includes frequent 2-3 week breaks, the first of which is our Fall Intersession. All of our classes are either looping or multigrade classrooms. We deeply value the connections and positive relationships that our teachers form with our students and their parents. Our continuous learning calendar can be found on our website.
No matter the grade level, our teachers promote hands-on and group learning opportunities to bring learning alive for our students. Our teachers are experts at using interactive technology that enhances the lessons taught. Students enjoy the STEM curriculum and materials that provide numerous opportunities for students to explore and problem-solve in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math while also enhancing literacy skills.
Please follow our school's Facebook page, LMDolphins, and check the website regularly so that you can join us for the many activities and events here at Landmark! We currently have one opening in second and two openings in fifth grade for the 22/23 school year. Please call the school office (779) 244-1800 for more information!
