Principal's Message
-
Dear Riverwood Families,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Riverwood Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school community. I hope that this note finds you enjoying the rejuvenating days of summer and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day.
Professionally, I possess 19 years of educational experience. Last year I served as principal of Crosby Elementary in Harvard. Prior to Crosby, I spent 4 years as an assistant principal in Crystal Lake District 47. Before stepping into an administration role, I taught 14 years primarily in fourth and fifth grades and 1 year of first grade. I am extremely thankful for these experiences that have prepared and led me to where I am today.
My passion has been and always will be educating students. With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with teachers to make sure our students are exposed to curriculum and instruction that is both engaging and challenging. I have an open door policy and welcome your input and ideas.
I am eager to get to know all of you and your wonderful child(ren). I believe that one of the most important aspects of my work as principal of Riverwood is building meaningful relationships with students, families, and teachers. I look forward to meeting you and thank you in advance for welcoming me into this fantastic learning community!
Sincerely,
Kristen Cannon
