2022 Superintendent To Watch Recognition

McHenry School District 15’s Superintendent, Dr. Josh Reitz, has been selected as a 2022 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Dr. Reitz joins just 24 other superintendents nationwide who were selected for the honor in recognition of their innovative and effective use of technology to engage and inform the school community, and to expand two-way communication and outreach efforts.

Honorees are school district leaders who have fewer than five years of experience as a district superintendent and who demonstrate dynamic, fast-paced leadership with strong communication at its core.

Dr. Reitz has been superintendent since July 2021 and has helped the district successfully expand their communication efforts during the ever-changing difficult 2021-2022 school year given the COVID-19 pandemic.  Reitz has also aided in increasing the district’s transparency by working in collaboration with the Board of Education and establishing a supportive team to assist with important high-quality and timely communications while building strong relationships with the McHenry learning community.

“This year’s honorees understand just how important effective communication is in building trust and relationships with families, employees, students and community members in their districts,” said NSPRA Executive Director Barbara M. Hunter, APR. “These emerging leaders have proven to be dedicated champions of innovative communication efforts to advance their district’s success.”

Dr. Reitz will be honored for this distinction on July 17, 2023 at the NSPRA National Seminar that will be held in St. Louis, Missouri that brings together well over 1500 school communication professionals and district leaders from across the nation.

“Dr. Reitz is an exceptional superintendent and a true ambassador for students, educators, families, and the McHenry community,” stated Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Fred Laudadio. “The District 15 family is extremely proud of Dr. Reitz and feels that he is truly deserving of this honor.
