Art Club is sponsored by Mr. Grabow. The club sponsors the annual Art Exhibit. The club is made up of a large group of Parkland students who enjoy art and art appreciation. We have activities from decorating the school to hands on art activities in the class.

Builders Club promotes community within our Parkland community. Students will participate in activities that will build Parkland school and our McHenry community. Mrs. Hein is the club advisor
Chess Club is an exciting group of people that meets twice a month and play great games of Chess. At the end of the school year there will be a tournament, where trophies are awarded. Chess Club is sponsored by Mrs. Kolker.
In Drama Club, students are introduced to theater through skits, games, and other activities. Students will have the opportunity to perform in a one-act play, to be held later in the school year. Homework Help is an after school program to help students who have difficulty doing their homework at home. It is not a tutoring program, but a place provided for students to get their work done at school. There are two staff members present on any given day who are there to provide assistance with any questions your child might have on their homework. Students should have an hour to an hour and a half worth of homework to work on if they are attending homework help. The program runs Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 until 4:00 and there are activity buses to take students home. It also runs on Thursday mornings from 6:30 to 7:30am. Students must have a homework contract from a teacher to attend.
International Club is open to all students. It provides a great opportunity for students to learn about their own culture and other cultures from different countries through games, crafts, and different foods. It also provides students the chance to meet new friends and socialize with each other. Click HERE for a list of International Club dates
The purpose of P.A.L.S. is for current students to help new students adjust to their new surroundings. Current students will help new students locate classrooms, read schedules, explain classroom rules, and introduce them to new Parkland friends. PALS is sponsored by Mrs. Behrendt and Mrs. Manta.
Snowball is a positive peer group that focuses on creating activities for the entire student body that have a positive message. Red Ribbon Week, the last week of October, will be the first event of the 2013-2014 year. The club will also sponsor dress-up days as well selling snowcones at dance and dodgeball tournaments. Mrs. Kinert is the sponsor of Snowball.
Student council is a student group that participates in building a positive school climate by organizing student events and coordinating community service projects. Parkland Student Council consists of 6 representatives from each grade level and a cabinet at the eighth grade level which consists of four additional positions of president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. The students are required to give a campaign speech and their peers choose the council members.
Last year student council students organized and held student dances, helped teachers and staff members after school on various projects, funded multiple school improvements, directed the Valentines Candy Gram sale, helped with St. Baldrick’s drive, greeted parents at conferences in the fall and spring, implemented fundraisers to help Toys for Tots and local families in need. Student council members are dedicated to the students and staff of Parkland and the community.
Yearbook Staff have the opportunity to create a year of memories for fellow students. Students help sell yearbooks, prepare the yearbook pages, and enjoy the yearbook with all Parkland students and staff. Ms. Bever is the Yearbook advisor.
Soccer Club is will introduce students to the sport of soccer. Students will socialize with other soccer fans. Soccer club will have regular meetings and participant will enjoy playing soccer or socializing with other soccer enthusiasts. Mr. T. Soto-Garcia and Mr. S. Chaney are the Soccer Club sponsors.
Spirit Club is for students of all grade levels. Students have the opportunity to attend home sporting events to cheer on the Viking teams, make signs and posters to promote school spirit, work concession at home games, and decorate athletes’ lockers. It is a great place to meet new friends and show school spirit. Mrs. Matuga is the Spirit Club sponsor.
