About School Social Work

What School Social Work at Parkland Looks Like:

School social work at Parkland is a support for students who struggle with social-emotional needs within the school setting. At Parkland, the social workers provide services such as individual and group counseling; school social work is available for all students at Parkland. These services are not intended as a substitute or to take the place of permanent or long-term counseling or therapy.

The social workers assist staff with various concerns about students, as well as provide crisis services to students seeking support. The social workers serve as a link for students and families to outside community resources (outside counseling, low-income resources, and community connections. For additional resources, see the "community resources" tab.) Depending on the needs of the students, counseling can focus on various issues that affect the student in the educational setting. Parents and students can contact the social worker via email, direct line, walk-in, or through the main office if support is needed.
