    In McHenry District 15, we work in partnership with our entire learning community to provide an education for our students that targets their academic and social emotional learning needs and prepares them for their future. District 15’s curriculum and instruction model provides a rigorous and relevant curriculum for all grade levels that is aligned with state standards to prepare students for success in a global society. District 15's curriculum is research-based and vertically aligned from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade and reviewed through a continuous improvement model. District 15 is committed to our students, staff and community to ensure today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders.

District 15's model ensures a guaranteed, viable curriculum that delivers an unrivaled education by providing innovative, supportive, and engaging experiences that empower all learners to achieve their ultimate success. 

    Continuous Curriculum Model
    In McHenry District 15 we utilize a continuous curriculum model that provides a framework for curriculum and instruction and focuses on four guiding principles and questions.

    • What do we want all students to know and be able to do?

    • What instructional strategies will we use?

    • How will we know they have learned it?

    • How will we respond when they haven't learned it, and what will we do for those who have?

    The continuous instruction model is designed to guarantee students have the knowledge and skills required for success in the 21st century. It also ensures that teachers maintain this focus throughout their instructional practices. The development and implementation of this framework results in:

    • Intentional alignment to standards

    • Clear learning outcomes with assessments 

    • Engaging learning experiences

    • High-impact instructional strategies

    • Sequenced units of study that provide teachers with a detailed road map
